I finally got around to begin editing photos from our Moab adventure we took in February. We visited Balanced Rock in Arches National Park as we left the park at the end of day 3...so I'm working backwards. Balanced Rock is surrounded by some other rock formations which appear to be the beginnings of some Arches that will probably take their wind-shaped forms in several thousands of years...
On the way out I took some hand held panoramas (I know all you pro photographers out there...I should have used a tri-pod) but we were in a hurry...so I'm sure some of the camera shake would be reduced had I actually taken out the tripod...but hey - I'm not selling these or anything, just wanted to capture the beautiful contrast of red rocks, blue skies and purple mountains. If I were to slice the panoramas together, they would show the arches, petrified sand dunes and the La Sal Mountains from left to right.
I am unsure which rock formation this is...if it has a name. But I love the colors of it. You can see it's in the process of making some Arches to add to the already spectacular views.
Slice these two panoramas together and you have the arches, petrified sand dunes and La Sal Mountains all in one.
Check back soon for more photos!
